I frequently see the word Karma thrown around lightly. I see it mostly being used to describe how someone else will get what is coming to them. First it is better to focus on your own Karma, then that of others.
Most people see Karma, as the future result of actions and words, and how resulting choices will affect them in the future. (Also how it will affect them in future lives for those that believe in reincarnation.)
What people fail to know, fail to understand, or fail to remember depending on how much they know about the truth of Karma, is Karma is starts with what you are thinking.
Karma begins in the mind. If it is not nurtured there, your words and actions will not be as effective. If your words are kind, and your actions are kind but that thoughts are unkind, regardless of who or what you are thinking about, your Karma will not be inline.
Personally, I see Karma as energy that directly links my actions to my present and future self. It is not just an abstract idea. It is something that when cultivated correctly, will make you feel lighter and better, not just in the future but in the here and now.
Focusing on changing how we think, to affect our Karma is not always easy, and it takes practice. Yes we all will slip up at times, but we can always find our way back. I have been trying for years to be kind to people who do not always treat me kindly or fairly, but I realized real change comes when I changed my thinking as well. I know that this can be difficult, we all have down days, but it is worth it.
Just remember Karma is in word, action AND in thought, and you will find yourself in a better place.
